We’re headed to Uganda in December to provide food, clothes, shoes, and Christmas gifts to over 2,500 orphans and widows affected by AIDS. We’ll be giving Christmas to a group of children that have never experienced it. For many of them, it will be the biggest gift they’ll ever get.
Everybody’s heard of the “AIDS Crisis in Africa,” but it’s always been this far-off and faceless problem. It wasn’t until we heard about the staggering numbers in Uganda that we knew we had to get involved.
- Over 2 million orphans in Uganda alone, mostly due to losing their parents to AIDS or years of civil unrest.
- Many young children live without regular shelter, food, or water.
- Many children sleep on the sidewalks of the dirtiest cities you’ve ever seen.
- Many children (male and female) turn to prostitution to eke out a meager living.
